This position requires a dynamic and motivated
self-starter who is capable of working both independently and with a team. The
ideal candidate is an energetic and creative individual who is focused,
organized and an effective communicator. This position will be required to
maintain a strong operational and cultural understanding so as to best meet the
needs of the business.
This position will require the ability to complete
multiple cross-functional projects while maintaining the general requirements
of the position in a time-sensitive environment. Candidates must have 5-7 years of previous Human Resources
Management experience.

Summary
The Armstrong Garden Centers, Human Resources Manager is a
key leadership role, responsible for overseeing and managing core Human
Resources tasks including, but not limited to: payroll, employee benefits,
workers compensation, leave of absence management, OSHA/safety compliance and
all employee relations matters. This role directs and manages the work of two
team members including a Human Resources Generalist and Human Resources
Assistant.
What good looks like in this position
- Previous payroll and benefits management experience (ADP preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of Worker's Compensation processes
- Dynamic and professional communication skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and Word)
Responsibilities
- Reviews and recommends policy and procedures update and compliant with federal and state regulations.
- Assist with employee benefits renewal and enrollment.
- Manage workers compensation and general liability claims.
- Works alongside multiple corporate departments (including Store Operations) to initiate hiring objectives
- Mentors and advises retail and corporate management team on staffing and employment issues.
- Plans and assists with new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward Company goals.
- Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
- Conducts wage surveys within labor market to determine competitive wage rate.
- Develop and administer Human Resources policies and procedures for the company.
- Manage and oversee all leave of absence matters.
Education/Experience
- Five plus years' work-related experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource or related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
- Society of Human Resources Management certification (PHR). Advanced certification (SPHR) is a plus.
Other Skills/Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of Human Resources laws.
- Intermediate knowledge of workforce analysis.
- Intermediate knowledge of compensation systems.
- Basic knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle confidential situations and information.
Travel
Not applicable at this time. May include limited day trips
to local branches.

Salary range: will commensurate with experience

Physical Environment/Working Conditions
Can requires extensive use of back, legs, knees, arms, feet and hands for lifting, stooping, squatting, bending, twisting, kneeling, pulling, pushing, reaching overhead, and walking. Unassisted lifting limits up to 50 lbs. Individuals may be required to do any or all of these situations throughout the work day, with an emphasis on walking and standing for a major portion of the day.
