- Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm. Weekends as needed.

Armstrong Growers is an Employee-owned, wholesale bedding
plant grower located in Southern California; it is a division of Armstrong
Garden Centers, Inc. We operate five
growing facilities in San Marcos, Santa Paula, Oxnard, Fallbrook, and Bermuda
Dunes, CA serving Independent Garden Centers throughout California, Arizona,
New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, and Texas.
Summary
Armstrong Growers is
expanding their reach into the Grocery- Floral market and is developing a
position as a Grocery Operations Specialist who will execute all details
relative to developing and executing total sales into the Grocery customer
segment. Experience working with and selling
plants into grocery floral departments is critical.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Understanding of the grocery floral business in terms of product placement and timelines
- Strong prospecting and closing skills.
- All aspects of selling including prospecting, taking the order and following it thru fruition to shipping
- Collaborate with production & growing to develop the plant programs often working 6 months - 1 year in advance of a crop.
- Work with Operations team to determine / organize the plan for packing and keeping up with the crop performance, any special needs.
- Collaborate with the inventory teams to keep updated on various crop performance and inventory levels.
- Collaborate with Shipping department(s) to determine best shipping options, organizing trucks, receiving quotes, and organizing shipments with the customer/DC's and outside Shipping companies, any special requirements needed for shipping.
- Work with IT Coordinator for New Account set up, Item Numbers, any SBI questions, concerns.
- Work with our A/R team to set up new accounts, Credit Authorizations, and any concerning past due collection if needed / Credit issues.
- Organize with HR for Insurance / Onboarding documents necessary for Vendor Set up with new customers.
- Both account management and general administrative duties are required
- Some marketing and sell sheet development.
Education, Prior Work Experience and Specialized Skills and Knowledge
- A minimum of 3 years experience selling plants to Grocery Floral Departments is a must or 5 years selling horticultural goods.
- A college degree in Business Administration, Marketing or Sales is preferred
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions as well as creative.
- Willingness to travel overnight 20-30% as necessary for customer meetings, and attend/exhibit at tradeshows.
- High level Excel and PowerPoint development skills are a must.
- General computer experience and ease of learning internal / external operating systems
- Extreme organization with worksheets, files and communication
- Articulate and able to perform professional live presentations.
- Ability to lift at least 40 lbs and set up/tear down for tradeshows is a must.
- Position can be done remotely.

- Participate in Departmental Zoom or onsite meetings as needed.
- Ensure all grocery EDI/portal sites are updated, and any subscriptions are valid and necessary.
- Growth with existing customers / future sales orders
- Ability Troubleshoot questions, and issues.
Compensation
Hourly rate: will commensurate with experience

Physical Environment/Working Conditions
Can requires extensive use of back, legs, knees, arms, feet and hands for lifting, stooping, squatting, bending, twisting, kneeling, pulling, pushing, reaching overhead, and walking. Unassisted lifting limits up to 50 lbs. Individuals may be required to do any or all of these situations throughout the work day, with an emphasis on walking and standing for a major portion of the day.
