Planting Herbs
Choose a spot to plant your herbs that receives full to partial sun a day. That means the spot should receive at least 6 hours of direct sun each day.
Dig a hole twice as wide and deep as the rootball of your plant. Mix E.B. Stone Planting Compost with your native soil at a 50/50 ratio to better improve the soils drainage and to add beneficial nutrients. Fill the hole halfway with the mixed soil. This should put the top of the plants rootball level with the soil around the hole. Fill in around the sides of the rootball. Tamp down the soil firmly to get rid of any air pockets. Herbs grow great in container too! If you are planting herbs in a pot plant them in E.B. Stone Edna's Best Potting soil. Water in your plants thoroughly after planting. For the first month or so, you may need to water every other day. Feel the soil before watering. It should be allowed to dry between watering. After plants establish in about 4 - 6 weeks, heavy soils may require watering once a week while sandy soils might need to be watered twice a week. Feed herbs quarterly. We recommend E.B. Stone All Purpose Plant Food. Growing herbs is easy and fun!
